About Heartland Community Church

Our Mission

God calls us to make life-long disciples of Jesus Christ and to love and serve others as He did.

What does a life-long disciple of Jesus Christ look like?

EXPERIENCES GOD

A life-long disciple of Jesus Christ seeks to know and obey God through:

  • Worshiping God
  • Prayer
  • Studying and living God's Word
  • CONNECTS WITH THE CHURCH

A life-long disciple of Jesus Christ seeks to connect with the church through:

  • Authentic fellowship with church members
  • Serving in a church ministry
  • Financially supporting the church through tithes and offerings
  • SHARES WITH THE WORLD

A life-long disciple of Jesus Christ seeks to share God's love:

  • With those they know through personal relationships
  • With those they don't through missions

  • Those who commit themselves to being a part of Heartland Community Church are asked to pursue being a life-long disciple of Jesus Christ in the context of Heartland Community Church.

    C10 Church Values

Our C10 values shape how we as a church conduct our ministries:

    • Commit to Discipleship training for people of all ages.
    • Celebrate God's love through relevant teaching and vibrant worship.
    • Care for, love and serve others.
    • Coach leaders and teams, so that they can, in turn, coach others.
    • Create and maintain an environment which allows everyone to mature in their relationship with God.
    • Connect deeply with one another like the first Christians did.
    • Community Outreach.
    • Collaborate with other churches and Christian organizations, especially partners at the Leo Center.
    • Continue to grow at all levels in order to build God's Kingdom.

    Church History

HCC was started in September 1991 by15 people with a desire to help non-churched, pre-Christians experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and to live in a biblically functioning community. The founders' goal was to share Christ's love in a practical and tangible way to people in their own community who were far from God.

The LORD blessed their efforts — the initial core outgrew the home basement setting. Subsequent moves to a theater, upstairs dance studio, and a former commercial dry cleaning facility were excellent rental homes for nine years.

In 1999, God provided a wonderful opportunity with a downtown commercial building that the church bought and remodeled. This location at 619 Vermont St. currently houses the 150-plus congregation and a myriad of ministries serving the community.
