Why a Baseball Benefit?
(it’s actually softball!)
Because: Brandon (and his wife Jody) have been a life-long baseball fans.
Brandon was a rising star on the Lawrence Outlaws American Legion team in 1996 as a LHS junior. During that summer he contracted a rare form of cancer.
Brandon spent the bulk of his senior year of high school at the KU Med Center receiving chemotherapy, radiation, and having 2.5 of his right quad muscles removed.
He did get to go with the LHS marching band to New Orleans and play at the Sugar bowl…but his baseball playing days were over. With “Make A Wish” Foundation’s” help, he was able to hang out with Mike McFarlane & Johnny Damon in the Royal’s dugout before a game while “on leave” from the Med Center.
In their leisure time, you can find Jody & Brandon watching the Royals & the Braves (Jody’s favorite team) at the same time on their tv and computer!
